On March 17, 2022, Ritz-Carlton signed the order with the French shipbuilding company Chantiers de l'Atlantique (shipyard in Sant-Nazaire France) for two LNG-powered superyachts - Ilma (2024) and Luminara (2025). Unlike the Spain-built Evrima, the France-built sisterships Ilma and Luminara are larger as both gross-tonnage/volume (46750 GT-tons, compared to Evrima's GT-tons), cabins (224 vs Evrima's 149), and max passenger capacity (456 vs Evrima's 298). All passenger staterooms/balcony suites are with tall ceilings and include Duplex Suites and fore-located Owner Suites (each with a huge wraparound balcony with an outdoor Jacuzzi). Other cabin types include Signature Suites, Grand Suites, Loft Suites, with the majority being Terrace Suites. The Lofts are duplexes, with bedrooms on their lower level, built so that the vessel could be all-balcony. Terrace Suites are easily combined to reduce the number of accommodations when the ship is privately chartered.

However, the design was later altered and with these specifications was constructed only the first boat (Evrima/by Tillberg Design Sweden). All affected bookings were either rescheduled or fully refunded (100% reimbursement of the fare paid). Independently booked flights and hotels were also fully reimbursed (for date changes or cancellation fees) and travel agents' commissions were protected (cruise-only commissions for all canceled voyages).

Evrima has initially attracted a surprisingly high percentage of passengers who are totally new to cruising—and they are generally younger (late 40s to mid 60s) than the average small-luxury-ship demographic. Passengers seeking rejuvenation can visit the onboard Ritz-Carlton Spa, where massages, facials, and body treatments feature ESPA and 111SKIN products (at an added cost). Those in the mood for aquatic recreation can head to the Marina, an aft platform on deck 3 where a stash of complimentary water toys (sea kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and more) are available when the ship is at anchor. This philosophy of “savoring the lands you visit” is designed to more fully immerse guests in the culture, traditions, and natural bounty of some of the world’s most compelling destinations. Local sourcing is especially evident in the main restaurant, The Evrima Room, where seasonal menus change to reflect the places visited. Guests can expect fresh Mediterranean ingredients in spring and summer and culture-rich Caribbean flavors in fall and winter.

Depending on how it’s measured, The Ritz-Carlton companies have more than a century of hospitality experience, including some two restaurants on early 20th Century ocean liners. The ship is 46,750 gross tons and carries 456 passengers at full occupancy with the exact number of crew yet to be announced.
As with similar watersports platforms on other ships, the Marina will only open when weather conditions are right and local authorities permit its usage. Ritz-Carlton's tour program ("Caribbean Shore Collection") is grouped into 5 categories - Active Explorations, Cultural Connections (wildlife), Iconic Sights (art and culture), Stirring the Senses (wellness), and Epicurean Experiences. Passengers enjoy dedicated Concierge Ashore service and extended port stays. These 5 shore excursion categories are created for various activity levels and interests of ship travelers. All excursions are highly personalized, with a relaxed pace and led by experienced local guides.
The Bonvoy link also makes Evrima a more fertile ground for multigenerational travelers. Notably, the ship is equipped with a children's playroom -- called Ritz's Kids -- on Deck 8 that's open for children 4 to 12 years of age (for a fee; $45 per child for three hours). Yet according to Prothero, most sailings have only had a handful of children on board, with holiday sailings having a few more than the norm. The executive explained that the kid's club is a standard feature on Ritz-Carlton hotels, so it's also standard on Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Something else that became apparent during our tour of Evrima is that the average passenger is slightly younger than what you'd normally see on other luxury cruise lines.
